In plain words

The eastern side of this cosmic chest is called Juhū, the offering-ladle, because it is facing east that seekers offer their oblations. The southern side is called Sahamānā, the enduring, because in the realm of death, souls must endure the consequences of their past deeds. The western side is called Rājñī, the radiant queen, ruled by King Varuna and painted in the deep crimson of twilight. The northern side is called Subhūtā, the prosperous, guarded by Kubera, the lord of wealth. The wind is the calf of these four directions, born from them and nurtured by them, as we see when the east wind blows. A parent who meditates on this cosmic wind as the immortal calf of the directions will never have to weep for the untimely death of a child. Knowing the power of this sacred alignment, I place my mind upon the wind-calf of the quarters, praying: 'May my child live a full, long life, and may the sorrow of a child's passing never touch my heart.'

Of this [chest], the eastern direction is the eastern part, named Juhū, because in this direction the ritualists offer oblations while facing east; hence it is named Juhū. The southern direction is named Sahamānā, because in this direction, in the city of Yama, living beings endure the fruits of their sinful actions; hence it is named Sahamānā. Likewise, the western direction is named Rājñī, because it is presided over by King Varuna, or due to its connection with the red color of twilight. The northern direction is named Subhūtā, because it is presided over by prosperous ones like Lord Kubera and others; hence it is named Subhūtā. Of these directions, the wind is the calf, because the wind is born from the directions, as seen in expressions like 'the east wind,' etc. He who, desiring a long life for his son, knows the wind as the calf of the directions as immortal, does not weep for his son, meaning his son does not die. Since this is a specific meditation on the chest, directions, and calf, therefore I, desiring my son's long life, know this wind as the calf of the directions. Therefore, let me not weep for my son; let not the weeping caused by a son's death happen to me.
