तस्य प्राची दिग्जुहूर्नाम सहमाना नाम दक्षिणा राज्ञी नाम प्रतीची सुभूतानामोदीची तासा वायुर्वत्स स य एतमेव वायु दिशा वत्स वेद न पुत्ररोदँरोदिति सोऽहमेतमेव वायु दिशा वत्सवेद मा पुत्ररोदँ रुदम् ॥ २ ॥

Of this cosmic person, the eastern region is called Juhu because ritualists make oblations facing that way. The southern is Sahamana because beings endure their bad karma there in Yama's realm. The western is Rajni, presided over by Varuna or marked by twilight. The northern is Subhuta due to the presence of divine lords of wealth. Vayu is their calf because wind pervades all quarters. Whoever understands this sacred meditation never weeps for the death of a child. Thus, longing for my children to live, I too know this wind as the calf, praying that such grief may never touch me.
