Bhashya
तम् आचार्यं जाया उवाच— तप्तो ब्रह्मचारी कुशलंसम्यक् अग्नीन् परिचचारीत् परिचरितवान् ; भगवांश्चअग्निषु भक्तं न समावर्तयति ; अतः अस्मद्भक्तं न समा-वर्तयतीति ज्ञात्वा त्वाम् अग्नयः मा परिप्रवोचन् गर्हा तवमा कुर्युः ; अतः प्रब्रूहि अस्मै विद्यामिष्टाम् उपकोसला-येति ।तस्मै एवं जायया उक्तोऽपि ह अप्रोच्यैव अनुक्त्वैवकिंचित्प्रवासांचक्रे प्रवमितवान् ॥
In plain words
The teacher's wife spoke to him: 'This young student is worn out from his austerities. He has tended your sacrificial fires with perfect devotion. Yet, you do not let him return home. Lest the fires themselves turn on you and blame you for neglecting their devotee, please teach Upakosala the knowledge he seeks.' But even though his wife urged him in this way, the teacher left on a journey without saying a single word to him.

To that teacher, his wife said: 'The celibate student is exhausted by austerities; he has served the fires well and thoroughly. And yet, the revered lord does not allow him, who is devoted to the fires, to return home. Therefore, thinking "He does not allow our devotee to return home," may the fires not speak ill of you, may they not censure you. Therefore, teach him the desired knowledge, to Upakosala.' Although he was thus addressed by his wife, indeed, without teaching, without saying anything at all, he departed on a journey.
