In plain words
Mind is truly greater than resolve. Mind is the faculty of cognition—the possession of timely awareness and the capacity to weigh the purposes of past and future things. This is even greater than resolve. How so? When a person perceives an actual object, realizing 'This is how it is,' then—in order to accept or reject it—he forms a resolve, reflects upon it mentally, and proceeds as described before.
Close to the Sanskrit
Mind indeed is greater than resolve. Mind is the quality of being a cognizer, possessing awareness appropriate to the time at hand, and having the capacity to evaluate objects and purposes of the past and future; that is greater even than resolve. How? When one cognizes an attained object thus: 'This is obtained thus,' then for the sake of accepting it or rejecting it, thereafter he resolves, then he reflects mentally, and so forth, as before.
