एतेषाम् एतानित्यर्थ , मे मह्यं देहीति ह उवाच , तान् स इभ्य अस्मै उषस्तये प्रददौ प्रदत्तवान् ।पानाय समीपस्थमुदकं च गृहीत्वा उवाच—ह त गृहाणानुपानम्, इत्युक्त प्रत्युवाच— उच्छिष्टं वै मे मम इदमुदकं पीतं स्यात् , यदि पास्यामि , इत्युक्तवन्तं प्रत्युवाच इतर —

Giving these to me means hand over these pulse remnants, he said, and the elephant-owner gave them to Uṣasti. Taking nearby water for drinking, the owner said, Take this water after your meal. But Uṣasti replied, This water of mine would become leftover if I were to drink it.

Of these, meaning these, give to me, thus he said; those the elephant-owner gave to Uṣasti. Taking nearby water for drinking, he said: Take this after-drink. Thus addressed, the other replied: This water of mine would be drunk [leftover] if I drink it.
