In plain words

May Gaṅgā's sacred water protect us—alive with bees made drunk by the fragrance of bathing elephants, glowing tawny with saffron washed from celestial women, its banks strewn morning and evening with the sages' kuśa grass and flowers, its powerful waves rushing among great aquatic creatures.

Close to the Sanskrit

May the water of Gaṅgā protect us: its swarms of bees intoxicated by the fragrance of wine-like ichor flowing from the temples of bathing elephants; tawny from contact with saffron washed from the paired breasts of celestial women as they bathe; its bank-side water covered morning and evening by the sages' gathered kuśa grass and flowers; its swift waves thronged by elephant-trunk-like aquatic creatures.
