The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Haristutiḥ

Verse 33

In plain words

Who is this shining one inside the body? — turn that question over carefully. The one who knows, the one who hears, the one who thinks: this, and nothing else, is the god. Weigh that, and you see it — here I stand, a portion of the Knower. Hari, whom they know in this way, who destroys the darkness of saṃsāra: him I praise.

Close to the Sanskrit

"Who is this god in the body?" — having thoroughly considered in this manner; "the knower, the hearer, and the thinker — this indeed is the god" — having reflected thus, "I am here a portion of the Knower" — thus whom they know, him, the destroyer of the darkness of saṃsāra, Hari, I praise.
