In plain words
As gold is purified in fire from what has become mixed with it, so the fire of knowledge, kindled through the disciplines of yoga, burns away the false accretions of selfhood. What remains is the knowing Reality. I praise Hari, who destroys the darkness of saṃsāra.

Just as gold mixed with other metal is freed in fire, so in the fire made of knowledge and kindled through the eight limbs of yoga, the conditioned self is burned away and the knowing remainder is recognized. I praise Hari, the destroyer of the darkness of saṃsāra.
