Jagannāthāṣṭakam

Verse 5

In plain words

High on the chariot, rolling down the road, brāhmaṇas thick along the way — and at every turn of the wheel their praise breaks over him, and he listens to all of it, tender as he is. Ocean of compassion. Kinsman of every world there is. Lakṣmī, the ocean's own daughter, at his side. Let Lord Jagannātha come walking down the path of my eyes.

Close to the Sanskrit

Mounted on the chariot, going along the road, having heard at every step the outbreak of praise among the assembled multitude of the earth-gods, O compassionate one — the ocean of compassion, kinsman of all the worlds, together with the ocean's daughter: may Lord Jagannātha be the traveler on the path of my eyes.
