In plain words
One day a palace; another day the white mansions of rich men. Sometime on a bare mountain; sometime on a riverbank. Sometime in the thatched hut of the self-controlled, the finest of sages. Wherever he is living, the sage never slips into vyāmoha — the darkness in him was cut through long ago, by the guru's initiation.
Close to the Sanskrit
Sometimes in a palace, and somewhere too in the whitewashed mansions of the wealthy; at some time on a mountain, and somewhere too on the banks of rivers; in the hut of the self-controlled, of the very best among the company of sages as well — dwelling thus, the sage, whose darkness has been cut away by the guru's initiation, does not fall into bewilderment.
