Kṛṣṇāṣṭakam

Verse 7

In plain words

The chisel that cuts human terror clean away, shelter for everyone who comes seeking shelter, the one who takes delusion off us; dark as a monsoon cloud, and beautiful — playmate of the small children of Vraja, friend of Arjuna; self-existent, father of everything that lives, giving joy to those who live rightly; the one worth running to, lord of all the worlds — let Kṛṣṇa be what my eyes are looking at.

Close to the Sanskrit

The chisel that cuts away the terrors of men, the refuge of those who take refuge, the remover of delusion; dark as a rain-cloud, lovely, playmate of the children of Vraja, friend of Arjuna; self-existent, the begetter of beings, giver of joy to those of fitting conduct; worthy of being resorted to, lord of the worlds — may Kṛṣṇa become the object of my eyes.
