The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Mohamudgaraḥ

Verse 13

In plain words

Why all this worry about your wife, your money? Madman — do you think no one is holding the reins? In all three worlds only one thing turns out to be a boat for crossing the ocean of birth and death: the company of the good.

Close to the Sanskrit

What is this worry of yours, directed toward wife and wealth? O madman, is there no governor over you? In the three worlds, the company of the good alone becomes the boat in the crossing of the ocean of worldly existence.
