Verse 3

In plain words

Your flood of vast, deep water has shaken the sin off the face of the earth. Your roar is the enemy of every sin; it splits the mountain of calamity wide open. When the world dissolved and terror was everywhere, you gave Mārkaṇḍeya, Mṛkaṇḍu's son, a house to stand in. I bow to the lotus of your feet, goddess Narmadā.

Close to the Sanskrit

The lotus of your feet — by whose flood of immensely deep water the surface of the earth is shaken free of sin; which resounds as the enemy of all sins, by which the mountain of calamity is split open — O giver of a mansion to Mṛkaṇḍu's son in the great terror at the dissolution of the world, that lotus of your feet I bow to, O goddess Narmadā.
