The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Nirguṇamānasapūjā

Verse 12

अनादिकल्पविधृतमूलाज्ञानजलाञ्जलिम् ।विसृजेदात्मलिङ्गस्य तदेवार्घ्यसमर्पणम् ॥ १२ ॥

In plain words

The true arghya is to pour away the root ignorance we have carried from beginningless time. Releasing that ancient burden is the offering made to the liṅga of the Self.

Close to the Sanskrit

One should pour away the handful of water that is root ignorance, carried through beginningless aeons. That itself is the offering of arghya to the Self-liṅga.
