। ॥ १५५ ॥
In plain words
The moment bare seeing turns and stands face to face with itself, the split opens: seen on one side, seer on the other. But when this seeing is facing nothing at all, no such split ever comes to be.
Close to the Sanskrit
When mere-seeing goes into the state of being face to face with itself, then it comes to be — the division of seen and seer; for in this, when it is not face to face, that does not come to be.
