। ॥ १७४ ॥

In plain words

Idle gossip makes him restless. A journey to a genuinely holy place has his whole heart. And when talk of Kṛṣṇa, Lord of the Yadus, is missing, one thought keeps surfacing: that much of life has gone, and gone for nothing.

Close to the Sanskrit

In village talk, recoil; in journeys to true holy places, wholehearted interest; when talk of the Lord of the Yadus is absent, the thought: "life has gone by in vain."
