। ॥ ९४ ॥

In plain words

A little light gets out, and at once you can make out everything in the room, each thing distinct from the next. So what did the seeing? The holes in the pot? The pot? The clay lamp-bowl, the oil, the wick? None of it will do — look for yourself and the claim collapses. The flame's own light, that alone, and nothing else. The ātman stands in the body exactly like that.

Close to the Sanskrit

The knowledge of the multitude of separate objects which indeed arises by a portion of light — is that by the holes, or by the pot? Is it by the clay vessel, or by the oil, or by the wick? And this is not acceptable, because of contradiction by direct perception. Therefore here the lamp's light alone is the recourse; in the body the Self abides in just that way.
