च विमुच्यते ।तस्मात्कर्म न कुर्वन्ति यतयः पारदर्शिनः’ इति ।‘ज्ञानं विशिष्टं न तथा हि यज्ञा ज्ञानेन दुर्गं तरते न यज्ञैः’ इति च ।तथा च ज्ञानस्यैव मोक्षसाधनत्वं मन्यमानः सर्वकर्मपरित्यागमाह भगवान् वेदाचार्यो मनुः—‘यथोक्तान्यपि कर्माणि परिहाप्य द्विजोत्तमः ।आत्मज्ञाने रमेत च स्याद्वेदाभ्यासे च यत्नवान्’ इति ।तथाह भगवान्परमेश्वरः—

And again: 'A creature is bound by action and set free by knowledge. Therefore the renunciate seers, who have reached the further shore, perform no actions.' And: 'Knowledge is superior; ritual sacrifices are not. One crosses the perilous ocean of saṃsāra through knowledge, not through sacrifices.' Recognizing that knowledge alone is the true instrument of liberation, the revered Vedic lawgiver Manu enjoined the absolute abandonment of all ritual work: 'Leaving aside even the prescribed duties, the twice-born seeker should find his joy in self-knowledge and remain steadfast in the study of the Veda.'
