एवं तावदविद्याकामयोः बन्धहेतुत्वमभिहितम् ।अथेदानीं कर्मणां बन्धहेतुत्वमाह—

Thus far it has been explained how ignorance and desire serve as the roots of bondage. Now the author proceeds to show how ritual and worldly actions likewise bind the soul.

Thus so far the fact that ignorance and desire are causes of bondage has been declared. Now at this point he states that actions are a cause of bondage.
