तेन अहंकारादिरूपेण परिणताज्ञानेन ते मोहिताः देहादिष्वात्मभावमापादिताः तद्वशे अहंकाराद्यात्मना परिणतप्रमादाख्यमृत्युवशे वर्तमानाः इतः अस्मात् प्रेताः धूमादिमार्गेण गत्वा तत्र परलोके यावत्सम्पातमुषित्वा पुनः आकाशवायुवृष्टिसस्यान्नशुक्लशोणितादिक्रमेण देहग्रहणाय पतन्ति निपतन्ति ।श्रूयते च—‘तस्मिन्यावत्सम्पातमुषित्वाथैतमेवाध्वानं पुनर्निवर्तन्ते’ इति ।ततः अनन्तरं पुनः देहग्रहणावस्थायां तं देवा इन्द्रियाणि अनुसृत्य कर्माणि परि समन्तात् प्लवन्ते समन्ततः परिवर्तन्त इत्यर्थः ।अतः अस्मात्कारणादिन्द्रियगुणानुसरणात् मृत्युं मरणं याति ।ततो मरणात् जन्मान्तरम् अभ्युपैति ततो मृत्युम् ।एवं जननमरणप्रबन्धाधिरूढो न कदाचिद्विमुच्यत इत्यर्थः ।आत्माज्ञाननिमित्तत्वात्संसारस्य यावत् परमात्मानमात्मत्वेन साक्षान्न विजानाति तावदयं तापत्रयाभिभूतो मकरादिभिरिव रागादिभिरितस्ततः समाकृष्यमाणः मोमुह्यमानः संसरन्नवतिष्ठत इत्यर्थः ॥
In plain words
Deluded by that ignorance which assumes the shape of the ego, people take the transient body to be their true Self. Falling under the sway of death born of heedlessness, they depart this world, journey along the path of smoke to the other realm, and dwell there only as long as their residual karma holds. When it is spent, they descend step by step through space, wind, rain, crops, food, and seed to take on a body once more. As the scripture declares: 'Having stayed there as long as their karma lasts, they return by this very path.' At the moment of embodiment, the presiding deities stir their past actions into motion, causing them to revolve endlessly. Driven by this pursuit of sensory objects, they meet death, pass into a new birth, and encounter death again. Trapped on this wheel of birth and death, they never find release. Because worldly existence springs entirely from ignorance of the Self, until a person directly realizes the supreme Self as their own reality, they remain tormented by the threefold miseries, tossed helplessly hither and thither by the jaws of desire like a swimmer caught by crocodiles, endlessly wandering in delusion.

By that ignorance transformed in the form of ego and the rest, those deluded ones, having the notion of self produced in the body and so forth, remaining under the control of that death transformed in the nature of ego and the like, departing from this world, having gone by the path of smoke and the like, residing there in the other world as long as their residual karma lasts, fall down again through the sequence of space, wind, rain, crops, food, white semen and so forth to take a body. And it is heard: 'Having stayed there as long as their residual karma lasts, they return by this very path'—thus. Then immediately afterwards, in the state of taking a body, the deities following that individual cause past actions to surge forth thoroughly and revolve on all sides. Hence, from this cause of following the qualities of the senses, he meets with death, and from death he attains another birth, and from that, death. Thus, one mounted on the continuous chain of birth and death is never liberated at all, meaning. Because the world-process has ignorance of the self as its cause, as long as one does not directly know the supreme Self as the self, so long this person, overwhelmed by the threefold miseries, being dragged hither and thither by attachments like crocodiles and being intensely deluded, continues transmigrating, meaning.
