यस्तु पुनर्विषयाभिध्यानेन कामानुसारी भवति स कामाननु विनश्यति कामविषये नष्टे कामाननु कामैः सह विनश्यति, अनित्याः कामगुणाः प्रतिक्षणं विनाशान्विताः, तद्वत्कामी विशीर्णो भवति ।यस्तु पुनर्विषयदोषदर्शनेन कामान्परित्यजति स कामान्व्युदस्य परित्यज्य धुनुते विवेकबुद्ध्या ध्वंसयति यत्किञ्चित् इह जन्मनि जन्मान्तरे वा उपार्जितं रजः पुण्यपापादिलक्षणं कर्म ॥
In plain words
He who chases after desires through constant brooding perishes right along with them; when the object of desire is lost, he collapses with it. Because sense pleasures decay from moment to moment, the person who clings to them is likewise shattered. But he who renounces desires by seeing their inherent flaws casts them completely away, burning up through his discriminative intellect every trace of merit and demerit accumulated in this life or in past births.

And whoever, through brooding on objects, becomes a follower of desires, perishes following the desires; when the desired object is destroyed, he perishes along with desires. The objects of desire are impermanent, associated with destruction every moment; similarly the person of desires becomes ruined. But whoever abandons desires by seeing their defects, casting them aside and renouncing them, shakes off with discriminative intellect whatever merit, demerit, or other karma has been acquired here in this life or in another birth.
