यः स्त्र्यादिकमभिकाङ्क्षन् अनुधावति स विषयविषान्धः तद्व्यतिरिक्तं स्वात्मभूतं परमात्मानम् अमन्यमानः अप्रतिबुध्यमानः नाधीयते तद्विषयमध्यात्मशास्त्रं नाधिगच्छति ।तस्य अस्य विषयविषान्धस्य षडङ्गवेदविदुषोऽपि देहस्तृणनिर्मितो व्याघ्र इव निरर्थको भवति ।तथा चाह भगवान्वसिष्ठः—‘चतुर्वेद्यपि यो विप्रः सूक्ष्मं ब्रह्म न विन्दति ।वेदभारभराक्रान्तः स वै ब्राह्मणगर्दभः’ इति ।न केवलं देहो निरर्थकः, य एवंभूतः स एव तस्य मृत्युरित्याह—क्रोधाल्लोभान्मोह

Whoever chases after sensory pleasures, blinded by their poison and failing to recognize the supreme Self within, misses the study of the spiritual science altogether. For such a person, even profound scholarship in the Vedas leaves their body as useless as a straw tiger. As sage Vasiṣṭha declared: 'Even a brāhmaṇa who knows all four Vedas but fails to realize subtle Brahman is merely burdened by a load of texts—a donkey carrying sacred lore.' Not only is his body useless; such a person is death itself, born of anger, greed, and delusion.

Who desiring women and the like runs after, he blind by sense-poison, not recognizing the supreme Self existing as his own Self, does not study that spiritual science, does not attain it. Of this person, blind by sense-poison, even of the knower of the six-limbed Vedas, the body is useless like a tiger made of grass...
