In plain words
...described as 'an inner self driven by fear.' Fueled by anger and greed, and tangled in delusion, that very mental attitude operating within your body is your death. Whosoever lacks self-control, gives in to anger and greed, and plunges into sensory indulgence—that person is their own death, for they are the agents of their own destruction. As scripture confirms: 'The self alone is the friend of the self, and the self alone is its enemy.'

...inner self of fear, thus. Caused by anger and greed, accompanied by delusion and fear, the inner self which is seen here in your body, that very thing is your death. Moreover, whoever with uncontrolled senses, endowed with anger and greed and the like, engages in sense objects, he alone is that person's death, because of being the cause of destruction. And it has been said: 'The self alone is the friend of the self, the self alone is the enemy of the self.'
