अभिभूतो नष्टो भवति मर्त्यः एवमात्मवेदिनो विषयमागतोऽज्ञानमृत्युर्नष्टो भवति ।उक्तं च नाममहोदधौ—‘ज्ञानसंस्थानसद्भावो ज्ञानाग्निज्ञानवज्रभृत् ।मृत्युहन्तेति विख्यातः स वीरो वीतमत्सरः’ इति ॥
In plain words
When something overpowers a mortal, the mortal is finished. Turn it around: once ignorance — which is death — comes within range of one who knows the Self, it is ignorance that is finished. The Nāmamahodadhi says the same: 'His very being is the seat of knowledge. He carries knowledge as fire and knowledge as the thunderbolt. He is known everywhere as the Slayer of Death — the hero, with no envy left in him.'

Overpowered, a mortal becomes destroyed; in the same way, having come within the range of the knower of the Self, the death that is ignorance becomes destroyed. And it is said in the Nāmamahodadhi: 'He whose true being is the seat of knowledge, who bears the fire of knowledge and the thunderbolt of knowledge — he is renowned as "Slayer of Death"; he is the hero, free from envy.'
