In plain words

"...and their eager striving with one another is itself a means to that knowledge" — so much for the passage quoted. Now: whoever knows in this way what his action is for, and does it for the Lord's sake — for that knower, dharma is the stronger force, stronger than his sins. Know that. Understand it clearly. But for the man who only performs the acts, with no such knowing, dharma is not the stronger. He simply undergoes both, merit and sin, each in its turn; neither one cancels the other out.

Close to the Sanskrit

"...and rivalry among them is a means to that knowledge" — thus. And whoever, knowing the application in this way, performs action for the sake of the Lord: for that knowing one, dharma is stronger than the sins — know this, understand this. But for the one who is merely a performer of action, it is not stronger; for him there is experience of both, and no destruction of one of the two by the other.
