In plain words

If certain wise observers, recognizing the marks of spiritual steadfastness, honor and revere as a knower of Brahman a sage who remains silent and effortless, established in his own majesty, having renounced all and withdrawn his senses, moving quietly through the world as a teacher of ascetics—that sage, when thus honored, should never think to himself, 'I am being honored.' And conversely, if those who do not understand such marks dismiss him as a dullard and show him disrespect, he should neither chafe nor grieve at the insult.

Close to the Sanskrit

Whom a knower of Brahman, exerting not, silent, having made the withdrawal of all and established in his own majesty, having made sannyasa, whose meaning is ascertained by vedanta, the teacher of paramahamsa ascetics, moving hiddenly, some wise ones knowing the marks of a steadfast intellect, thinking 'a knower of brahman', if they honor and worship, that wise one honored by them, being honored, should not think 'I am'. Similarly, if those ignorant of the marks of a steadfast intellect, thinking him a dullard, do disrespect, in that cause of disrespect he should not burn along nor grieve.
