गुणानपहर्तुमिच्छा वीभत्सा वा ।एते क्रोधादयो दोषाः तपसः कल्मषरूपाः सदा वर्ज्याः महागुणेन ब्राह्मणेन ।ब्राह्मणानामुत्कृष्टगुणयोगः स्वभावसिद्धः ।तथा चोक्तं भगवता—‘शमो दमस्तपः शौचं क्षान्तिरार्जवमेव च ।ज्ञानं विज्ञानमास्तिक्यं ब्राह्मं कर्म स्वभावजम्’ इति ।अथवा, महागुणो ब्रह्मप्राप्तिगुणः, तेन ब्रह्मप्राप्तिलक्षणेन महागुणेन समन्वितेन सदा वर्जनीया इत्यर्थः ।उक्तं च नाममहोदधौ—‘महान्ब्रह्मेति च प्रोक्तो महत्वान्महतामपि ।तत्प्राप्तिगुणसंयुक्तो महागुण इति स्मृतः’ इति ॥

These flaws such as anger are impurities of spiritual practice and must always be shunned by one of noble character. For a true brāhmaṇa, sublime qualities are natural. As the Lord declared: 'Peace, self-restraint, austerity, purity, patience, uprightness, knowledge, realization, and faith—these are the natural work of a brāhmaṇa.'
