त एते विपर्ययाः स्मृताः सत्यादिरूपत्वेन स्मृताः मददोषाः मदनाशकराः उदाहृताः ।के ते? सत्यापैशुनातृष्णाप्रातिकूल्यातमोऽरतिलोकाद्वेषानभिमानाविवादाप्राणिहिंसापरिवादानतिवादापरितापक्षमाधृतिसिद्ध्यपापकृत्याहिंसा इत्येते मदनाशकरा उदाहृताः ॥

Truthfulness, freedom from malice, freedom from craving, absence of hostility, freedom from mental darkness, contentment, goodwill toward all, humility, peaceableness, non-injury, speaking kindly, gentle speech, peace of mind, patience, stability, spiritual success, righteousness, and harmlessness—these are declared to be the destroyers of pride.
