He expects nothing. He is clean through and through. He is capable. His compassion is an ocean, and the water of it is nectar. A teacher who carries all these marks, foremost among those who know Brahman — he is the one to go to, and to go to with real effort, so that the seeker's own goal is actually reached.

Expecting nothing, pure, competent, an ocean of the nectar of compassion — endowed with such marks, he, the foremost knower of Brahman, is the guru, to be approached with effort, for the accomplishment of the seeker's own goal.
