। ॥ ७२५ ॥
In plain words
Suppose you drop the oneness of the two, saying, "But that runs against what I plainly perceive, and against inference too." Then you are left with a far greater conflict: you have contradicted the words of śruti, and the words of smṛti along with them.
Close to the Sanskrit
"There would be contradiction with perception and the other means of knowledge" — thus, when the identity of those two is abandoned, there arises a great contradiction with the statements of śruti, and contradiction with the statements of smṛti as well.
