। ॥ ७७ ॥

In plain words

"Money is the only thing that makes you happy" — and holding that thought, he is held: clasped tighter and tighter by the she-demon of his own craving. Dull inside, deluded, he sets up house next to his hoard and never takes his eyes off it. And in the end the money walks away too — and takes his life with it as it goes.

Close to the Sanskrit

"Wealth alone gives happiness" — thus, embraced very tightly by the she-demon of inner craving, the deluded man, dull of self, dwells beside it, gazing at it continuously; and that too departs afterwards, having carried off this man's life-breath.
