In plain words
So wealth is the root of ruin, and nothing a human life is actually for gets accomplished by it. That is why the good live out in the forest — having laid down every bit of it, all of that wealth that only ever worked against them.
Close to the Sanskrit
Therefore wealth is the root cause of calamity; by this, the attainment of the human goal does not come about. And so the good dwell deep in the forest, having renounced entirely wealth, which works against them.
