। ॥ ८४८ ॥
In plain words
Freedom is this: birth and all that follows it never come round again. When the afflictions are destroyed, that absence of birth stands out clearly. And what destroys the afflictions is settling into the Self alone, nothing else beside it. So for anyone who wants freedom, this is the work: abide in the Self.
Close to the Sanskrit
Liberation is the non-recurrence of birth and the rest again. Upon the destruction of the afflictions, the absence of birth and the rest shines forth. The cause for the destruction of the afflictions is one-pointed abidance in the Self. Therefore abidance in the Self is indeed to be practiced by one who desires liberation.
