In plain words

Like a snake slipping free of its old skin, he leaves his home behind. He uses the body lightly, as a traveler uses a roadside tree for a little shade, accepting only enough food to quiet hunger. To enter Svātmārāma, the bliss of resting in his own Ātma, he lets go even of bodily identity.

Close to the Sanskrit

Leaving his own home as a snake leaves its slough, as best he can, he relies on the body only briefly, like a traveler taking shade beneath a roadside tree. He seeks alms enough for hunger, like fruit fallen from trees. To enter Svātmārāma—the delight of his own Ātma—he indeed renounces even the body, full of happiness.
