In plain words
The one the three Vedas are trying to say. The one the heart already wants. He burned the three cities. He was there before the beginning. Three eyes. A great crown of matted hair, a live snake for a necklace, a deer held in his hand. Great god, shining god — and toward me, nothing but kindness. Lord of every tethered creature. Consciousness itself rests on him. Ambā is at his side. Nothing can imitate what he is. Him I worship — here, in my heart.
Close to the Sanskrit
Him who is to be known through the three Vedas, who is dear to the heart, the destroyer of Tripura, the primal one, the three-eyed one; him made majestic by the mass of his matted locks, whose necklace is a moving serpent, who bears the deer; the great god, the shining god, whose disposition toward me is compassion, the lord of tethered creatures; the support of consciousness, the one who is with Ambā, Śiva, beyond all imitation — him I worship in my heart.
