In plain words

Lit up by the light of the Self — light that is awareness itself — the intellect takes that awareness to be its own and says, "there is no knower but me." That, exactly that, is the confusion; and the confusion sits in the intellect.

Close to the Sanskrit

Illumined by the light which is the Self, which is awareness, the intellect thinks awareness to be in itself: "there is no other knower." That very thing is indeed the delusion residing in the intellect.
