What is considered the highest and most excellent dharma in the middle forms the fifth question. What is the sacred recitation to be chanted — whether performed aloud, softly whispered, or mentally — by a creature? By the word 'creature,' he indicates that all living beings have a rightful claim to such practices as japa, worship, and praise, each according to their capacity. 'From the bondage of birth and samsara' — here birth signifies the various effects of nescience brought forth by primordial ignorance, and samsara is ignorance itself; liberation from the bondage caused by these two constitutes the sixth question. The phrase 'liberated from the bondage of birth and samsara' also includes all other subsidiary fruits; however, liberation is specifically singled out to emphasize its supreme importance. Thus the six questions were presented. Among them, the sixth question regarding the practice of japa is now answered by the following verse. Sri Bhishma spoke:

In the middle, what is considered the supreme, eminent dharma is the fifth question. What is the japa to be recited, performing japa characterized by loud, whisper, and mental forms, by a creature? By this word creature, he indicates the eligibility of all living beings proportionate to japa, worship, praise, and so on. Birth-samsara-bondage: birth is an indicator of the effects of ignorance manifested by ignorance; samsara is ignorance; from those two, birth and samsara, whatever bondage is, from that one is liberated, becomes free, is the sixth question. 'Is liberated from birth-samsara-bondage' is an indicator of other fruits as well. But this mention of liberation is for the sake of declaring the supremacy of liberation. The six questions have been stated. Among them, the latter, subsequent japa-topic sixth question is answered by this verse — Sri Bhishma spoke:
