Scripture declares: 'Whether departing or staying,' and 'Knowledge is veiled by ignorance.' It is remembered that the entire evolutionary series from the unmanifest down to specific objects belongs to ignorance. As Sruti says: 'This was enveloped in darkness,' and 'Speech is a mere modification of names.' Where there is duality as it were, one sees another; but when to the sage everything has become the Self alone, who could see whom, and by what means? 'When all beings have become the very Self of the knower, what room is there for delusion or sorrow for one who sees this oneness?' Where one sees nothing else, hears nothing else—'This distinction is rooted in ignorance,' 'There is no multiplicity here at all,' and 'He goes from death to death who sees multiplicity here.' Further: 'Having eyes everywhere,' 'The one ruler over every womb and form,' 'The one unborn female, red, white and black,' 'The unborn individual soul lies attached, enjoying; the Lord established His own divine power.' 'There is no second thing distinct from Him that one could see.' 'Rudra is one alone; He did not stand as a second.'

'Where one sees not another, sees not [other]' etc. 'This difference has ignorance as its root,' thus. 'There is no multiplicity here whatsoever.' 'From death to death he obtains who sees multiplicity here as it were,' thus.
