Viṣṇusahasranāmastotram

Verse 205

न चलति निजवर्णधर्मतो यः सममतिरात्मसुहृद्विपक्षपक्षे ।न हरति न च हन्ति किंचिदुच्चैः सितमनसं तमवेहि विष्णुभक्तम् ॥

In plain words

He never drifts from the duty his own place in life lays on him. His mind stays level whether the side in question is his own, a friend's, or an enemy's. He takes nothing, he kills nothing. That man, his mind utterly clean — know him for a devotee of Viṣṇu.

Close to the Sanskrit

He who does not swerve from the duty of his own varṇa, who is of equal mind regarding the side of himself, of a friend, and of an adversary, who does not steal and does not kill anything — know him, exceedingly white of mind, to be a devotee of Viṣṇu.
