In plain words
Scripture declares that none is equal or superior to Him. He is called Śarabha because He shines as the inner witness within these perishable bodies. He is Bhīma because all creation stands in awe of Him, though He is gentle to the righteous. He is Samayajña because He knows the cosmic cycles, or because seeing all beings with an equal eye is His truest worship, as Prahlāda proclaimed. He is Havirhari because He receives the offerings of every sacrifice, as He Himself affirmed in the Gītā, and because His mere remembrance destroys all sin and worldly bondage. He is Sarvalakṣaṇalakṣaṇya because He is the ultimate reality pointed to by all valid means of knowledge. He is Lakṣmīvān because prosperity ever rests upon His breast. And He is Samitiṃjaya because He is victorious in every conflict.

Based on the smṛti text 'There is no equal or superior to him anywhere'. Śarabha is so called because bodies are called śara due to perishing, and he shines within them as the inner Self. Bhīma is so called because all beings fear him, according to Panini's rule 'bhīmādayo'pādāne', or because he is gentle to those on the right path. Samayajña is the knower of the times of creation, preservation, and dissolution, or one who knows the six conventions, or whose worship consists of even-mindedness towards all beings, based on Prahlāda's words 'Evenness of mind is the worship of Acyuta'. Havirhari is so called because he takes the oblation share in sacrifices, according to the divine statement 'I indeed am the enjoyer and also the lord of all sacrifices', or because he is called oblation through striking down the victim, or because he removes human sin and saṃsāra upon mere remembrance, or due to his tawny color, as stated in the divine verse 'I take away the sin of those who remember me and the oblation share in sacrifices, and my color is green/tawny, therefore I am remembered as Hari'. Sarvalakṣaṇalakṣaṇya is one well-established as the ultimate object indicated by all characteristics and valid proofs, because he is the highest reality. Lakṣmīvān is one on whose chest Lakshmi eternally dwells. Samitiṃjaya is one who conquers battle.
