He who partakes of the sacred soma across all sacrifices in the guise of the invoked deity is Somapa, or else he is Somapa as the ritual patron upholding the bounds of righteousness. Drinking the inner nectar of his own being, he is Amritapa—or he who guarded the immortal nectar stolen by the demons, gave it to the gods, and drank himself. Nourishing the herbs in the form of the moon, he is Soma, or else Shiva united with Uma. He who vanquishes multitudes is Purujit. Being vast due to his universal form and supreme due to his excellence, he is Purusattama. He who chastises the wicked is Vinaya. He who overcomes all creatures is Jaya. He whose resolve never fails is Satyasaṁdha, as the scripture declares: 'Of true resolve.' He who is worthy of the offering is Dāśārha.
