लोद्भवाद्वा ।सात्त्वतं नाम तन्त्रम्, 'तत्करोति तदाचष्टे' इति णिचि कृते क्विप्प्रत्यये णिलोपे च कृते पदं सात्त्वत्, तेषां पतिः योगक्षेमकर इति सात्त्वतां पतिः ॥

Take the maxim "he practises that, he teaches that," add the suffix ṇic in that sense, then add kvip and drop the ṇi, and the finished word standing there is sāttvat — those who practise and expound the Sāttvata. He is their lord, the one who secures what they need and keeps it safe. That is Sāttvatāṃ Patiḥ, the Lord of the Sāttvatas.
