भावसाक्षित्वात् गहनो वा ।वाङ्मनसागोचरत्वात् गुप्तः; 'एष सर्वेषु भूतेषु गूढोऽत्मा न प्रकाशते' इति श्रुतेः ।मनस्तत्त्वात्मकं चक्रं बुद्धितत्त्वात्मिकां गदां धारयन् लोकरक्षार्थमुक्तः चक्रगदाधरः ॥

Or He is Gahana because He is the silent witness of all mental states. He is Gupta, the hidden one, because He lies beyond the reach of speech and mind, as the sacred text affirms: 'This hidden Self in all beings does not shine forth outwardly.' Wielding the discus of the mind and the mace of the intellect for the protection of the worlds, He is known as Cakragadādhara, the bearer of the discus and mace.
