In plain words
Austerity, the sacred texts, the sages, and direct realization are all known as Brahman. Because He is favorable to these, He is Brahṣṇya. Because He is the author of austerities, He is Brahmakṛt. He is Brahmā because He projects the entire universe through the reality of Brahman. Brahman is vast and nourishing, defined by truth, as scripture declares: 'Brahman is truth, consciousness, and infinity.' And the Vishnu Purana states: 'That knowledge where all distinctions dissolve, which is pure existence, beyond words, and experienced within the self, is called Brahman.' He who fosters spiritual practice is Brahma-vardhana. He who truly knows the Veda and its meaning is the Knower of Brahman. He who expounds all worlds in the guise of a teacher is a Brāhmaṇa. Those dedicated to Brahman are His dependents, hence He is Brahmī. One who knows the sacred scriptures as his very self is the Knower of the Absolute. He is dear to the wise, and the wise are dear to Him, as the Lord declares: 'Whoever fails to show proper reverence to a sage who utters harsh words is a sinner consumed by the fire of holy wrath, worthy of punishment and cast out from us.' That divine Lord whom the goddess Devaki bore to Vasudeva.
