The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Viṣṇusahasranāmastotram

Verse 50

सकृत्स्मृतोऽपि गोविन्दो नृणां जन्मशतैः कृतम् ।पापराशिं दहत्याशु तूलराशिमिवानलः ॥

In plain words

Remembered even once, Govinda instantly burns away the mountain of sins accumulated by mortals across hundreds of lifetimes, just as fire consumes a pile of cotton.

Close to the Sanskrit

Govinda, even though remembered only once, quickly burns the heap of sin committed by men in hundreds of births, like fire [burns] a heap of cotton.
