उत्कृष्टं भवं जन्म स्वेच्छया भजति इति, उद्गतमगतं जन्मास्य सर्वकारणत्वादिति वा उद्भवः ।विश्वातिशायिसौभाग्यशालित्वात् सुन्दरः ।सुष्ठु उनत्तीति सुन्दः, उदी क्लेदने इत्यस्य धातोः पचाद्यच्; आर्द्राभावस्य वाचकः करुणाकर इत्यर्थः ; पृषोदरादित्वात्पररूपत्वम् ।रत्नशब्देन शोभा ल-

Udbhava: because He assumes noble births by His own free will, or because His origin is transcendent as the source of all. Sundara: because His grace surpasses the entire universe. Sunda: because He thoroughly softens the heart with compassion, derived from the root 'und' meaning to moisten, signifying an ocean of mercy through irregular phonetic derivation. The word 'ratna' denotes luster; hence Ratnanabha: one whose navel is as radiant and beautiful as a gem.
