Uttāraṇa is the deliverer who carries beings across the ocean of worldly existence. Duṣkṛtihā is the destroyer of sinners and evil deeds. Puṇya is He who bestows merit upon all who remember Him or reveals holiness through scripture. Duḥsvapnanāśana is the banisher of nightmares—those portents of future misfortune—when He is meditated upon, praised, chanted, or worshipped. Vīrahā destroys the painful cycles of worldly rebirth by granting supreme liberation. Rakṣaṇa is the guardian who protects the three worlds by anchoring Himself in the quality of purity.
