वेदीस्कन्धो हविर्गन्धो हव्यकव्यातिवेगवान् ।प्राग्वंशकायो द्युतिमान्नानादीक्षाभिरर्चितः ॥

The altar is his shoulder. The rising smoke of the offering is his scent. He runs at terrific speed, carrying havya to the gods and kavya to the ancestors. The sacrificial hall with its eastward beams is his body, and he blazes — and every kind of dīkṣā, every consecration ever undertaken, is worship offered to him.
