In plain words

Deep sleep is the total quieting of every kind of knowing - nothing but the intellect resting in its seed-form, unmanifest. And everyone, without exception, recognizes the experience it leaves behind: 'I knew nothing at all.'

Close to the Sanskrit

[Deep sleep is] the complete cessation of all kinds of cognition — merely the abiding of the intellect in its seed [causal] state. Here, the experience of this [person] is indeed, 'I know nothing whatsoever' — this being universally well known.
