In plain words

Once your own Self -- that spotless, radiant light -- slips out of view, delusion takes over, and you start calling this body 'I'. And from there, rajas' vast power, the projecting force, goes to work on you, tormenting you again and again through desire, anger, and all the other qualities that bind.

Close to the Sanskrit

When one's own Self, of exceedingly stainless splendor, has become hidden, the person, out of delusion, regards the non-Self, the body, as 'I'. Then the vast power of rajas, called projection, torments him greatly through the binding qualities beginning with desire and anger.
